Compressor failure

Bought this refrigerator in late 2017. Just after it ran out of warranty five years later the compressor quit. LG covered the cost of the new compressor but I had to pay to get a tech to install it. Do not buy these refrigerators

Our last refrigerator lasted 16 years and it was a side by side. We had been wanting a French door refrigerator but werent sure about issues we had heard about with the ice maker in the door. After talking with our salesman and a repair man we decided on this LG refrigerator. It is quiet and has lots of room. My only reason for giving it the 4 stars is that the ice maker has a small reservoir meaning fewer ice cubes. We tend to go through a lot of ice and water in our house. Not a huge issue we just need to remember to dump the ice maker ice into the storage container in the freezer when we have extra so that we can continue to generate more ice for our family.

Bought it a month ago to replace my 11 year old LG frig. Very happy with it except for ice maker. Ice is filled with air bubbles causing them to melt quickly in a drink. You need to fill the glass with ice and then poor in the juice which results in a watered down drink. Followed customer support suggestions to no avail.

We did not really purchase in March. We purchased in October after LG could not supply the first unit we purchased. Our appliances were delivered in November and all looked fine. A couple weeks passed by. The handle on the bottom freezer came loose. Obviously it was not tight. When the right side of the handle came loose it caused the handle to scratch the left side of the freezer door several places. I was on the phone with LG and Home Depot for more than 1 hour getting passed around to multiple people with no results.

We inherited a LG refrigerator at our other home so when it came time to replace the one at our 2nd home we chose a newer model. Key features include: ice maker built into the door saving space + love the small cubes. Also 2 bottom freezer drawers hold more than our previous side freezer same capacity. The main compartment has lots of feature/shelf customization choices - perfectly allowing us to configure the unit to our usage pattern. Finally the wifi connectivity will alert you if someone leaves the door open.

I bought this in 2018 its been an a great investment. it finally gave out in November 24 2022.Very disappointed with the extended warranty Allstate. It broke down during thanksgiving and we are now in a new year 1/13/23and it has not been fix. We have no working refrigerator and still no time set of when they will come and fix it or replace it. I am not happy with this puchase. I have had this since late May of 2022 .. the ice maker gave up in August. Looks pretty on the outside but the touch and feel of the interior is pretty cheap and flimsy. I didnt realize the two freezer drawers do not have independent temp controls until after it arrived. Its loud and makes wierd noises like a drill. I expecter more for almost 3K.

We like the black stainless look but right away it started to chip off. It also does not allow the front of the fridge to be magnetic. We like the room the french doors allow but the freezer is not tall enough. The same space saving icemaker is a pain and does not hold enough ice. Right now for the past month+ Ive had to buy ice because the icemaker has quit. We bought the extra warranty plan and have had an LG repairman out twice. Still no ice. I hate calling because they constantly ask your name address phone number model and serial number as well as your purchase order pictures of purchase receipt policy plan etc. They want to access your phone so they can see the fridge on your camera. Mind you I had to register the fridge with all this info. to even get started. All I know is Im frustrated I paid alot for a fridge and insurance policy and still dont have ice. No matter how many times I give out all this information it doesnt fix the icemaker.

My 22 year old fridge was making worrisome noises so I needed a new one. This one is so different and up to date. It is easier to organize the ice and water function is faster the open door reminder is great and the refrigeration/freeze temperatures are perfect. I prefer this to the side by side arrangement I had before. I am happy.

Constant Issues and failures

We loved the spacing of the fridge but over 4 years of usage and we have had the compressor replaced 2x the water dispenser failed and replaced and now the fridge has been declared a total loss.

I bought this refrigerator in June 2018. Four times failed starting from 2019 first failure until 2022 three times. In 2019 wrest was forming around the freezer area. In 2022 three times compressor failed. I think the ice maker and water dispenser is the problem area so it should be a design problem.

Beware of buying LG

disappointed Peoria home 11/16/2022

First repair was 2 years after purchase. Compressor failed. 2 years later a refrigerant leak happened. 2 different repair techs. tried to repair and the 2nd. ruled the unit non repairable. Was without a refrigerator for approximately 3 weeks for the unit to be finally declared non repairable. LG service will try to pay off a replacement unit cost as low as they can. We bought a new unit after their settlement was approximately 70 below replacement cost and that was the highest they would go.

Nice Refrigerator needed repairs within a month

I like the overall design of this refrigerator but I wish I had done more research because the icemaker in the door is extremely small and doesnt produce enough ice if you have company. Also this brand new refrigerator needed warranty repair within the first month of having it which was disappointing. Overall thankful for it though.

This fridge is a nice unit overall

Ive had this unit since July of 2018 and it worked really well till November of 2021 when the compressor stopped working. On the morning of the day the LG tech came out the compressor started working by itself out of the blue after not working for a couple of days. The tech updated the firmware and did a routine check of the entire unit. Fast forward to June of 2022 8 months later and the compressor stops working again. This time it completely fails. Called LG tech support and they sent out the same tech who btw was very polite and answered all my questions. I asked him what causes a compressor to go out twice on a unit that is a little over 4 years old. He mentioned that some of these compressors have issues from the factory and that its an industry wide problem/issue other manufactures have the same compressor issue - AKA they dont make compressors like they used to back in the day. Good thing LG has a warranty that is 5 years labor and 10 years for the compressor. Overall LG did help me out and since I lost many food and medical items that were in the unit both times LG sent me a check to cover the losses.

I bought this 2 months ago and I am disappointed with the small as can be ice maker that never keeps up and the fact that as soon as it was delivered the refrigerator portion of the refrigerator/freezer was freezing EVERYTHING inside. It is taking WAY too long for LG to correct the issue on a brand new refrigerator and I wouldnt invest in LG going forward.

Spacious and organized

The refrigerator was purchased just over a month ago. Very happy with the spaciousness of the unit. Set up went well. The exterior color Black Stainless Steel matches the existing appliances well. I am not impressed with the ice maker and hope it functions well for a long time.

I was happy with my refrigerator until the capacitor went out on it and lost all the food in it and has been down for app 3 weeks and the company cannot find someone to fix it I had to buy ice for 3 weeks and put just the things I need in a ice cooler I have found some one on my own and praying that they will refund my money
